Response Helicopter to highlight public safety at Get Ready Day Events

Get ready for storm season!

Media release

An emergency response helicopter will make special landings at the Emergency Services Expos at Chermside and Redcliffe (Clontarf) this weekend to help promote the importance of early household preparation in the lead-up to the summer storm season.

The Bell 206 Jet Ranger helicopter, which is owned and operated by Public Safety Training & Response Group, will then be joined on display by an impressive Unimog 4WD truck, Inflatable Rescue Boat, jet skis and drone displays.

Public Safety Training & Response Group specialises in training in public safety to build community resilience. It will be accompanied at the events by Emergency Services crews to discuss how locals can prepare their homes and families for the upcoming season.

“Storms, floods and bushfire are common in Queensland during summer, with potentially devastating impacts, and our group is helping spread the message that we should prepare now while there is time, well before any bad weather occurs,” Trevor Arnold, the Group’s General Manager Operations, said.

“We’ll have staff at both events to speak to locals about being prepared for the upcoming storm and fire season. We’re also showing some of the latest technology and capabilities that we have that can assist other Emergency Services in times of need.

Our Bell 206 Jet Ranger is an impressive aircraft that can be used for moving people in a disaster, plus search and rescue and firefighting.”

The helicopter will attend Brisbane City Council’s Brisbane Emergency Services Expo on Saturday October 12, at 7th Brigade Park on Newman Road and Delaware Street, Chermside; and at the Moreton Bay Emergency Services Expo on Sunday, October 13, at Pelican Park, Redcliffe.

Attendees at the free events will be able to inspect the helicopter and speak to representatives about how to best prepare for the potential emergencies of the upcoming summer, and what training courses might empower individuals, groups, businesses to improve their community’s safety and preparedness. #besummersafe2024
